Although Judge Samuel Alito has insisted that he will be his own person, unable to be a "duplicate" of someone with such a "distinguished" and "historic" career, we all know that what really kills him is the fact that he will never be as pretty as Sandra Day O' Connor.

Was googling my grandfather Charles V. Havican and saw that you mentioned him in a previous blog -- how in the world did you ever come upon his name? I didn't think anyone knew Pops but me! The only reference I've been able to find to his career is a mention in a vaudeville playbill when he played Oscar Hammerstein (no, not that one!). My son is now a punk-rock musician in New York; I used to work for Harold Prince, the producer. Our cousins are David and Shaun Cassidy of teen-idol fame, so we do try to keep someone in the business!
